1969 Rolex Precision Chameleon 16, reference 8788, 18k solid gold with brown leather Rolex strap.

The Rolex Precision Chameleon represents a playful and ingenious era in the brand's history. Originally released in the early 1950s, its defining characteristic is a unique, lug-less case with an integrated channel on the case back, allowing the wearer to slide a single-piece strap through in seconds—hence the "Chameleon" name. 

This reference features a round, 18k gold case distinguished by a beautiful hobnail finish, influenced by the fluting of the 1926 born Oyster and the 1945 Datejust.

Inside is a diminutive, manual-wind mechanical movement, a testament to Rolex’s micro-engineering before the era of quartz. 

Given its petite 16mm diameter, this watch is best suited for those who appreciate the elegance of a smaller watch that can shift from a vibrant pop of color to a muted, classic tone at a moment’s notice.
