1970s-80s Cartier Vendôme, 18k gold vermeil with burgundy roman numeral dial.

Introduced in 1973 as part of the revamped Louis Cartier collection, the Vendôme is a refined homage to the Parisian elegance of Place Vendôme, the historic square adjacent to Cartier's flagship boutique. Featuring borrowed design elements from the Cartier Ronde (Cartier's first round production watch, premiered in 1937), the Vendôme's silhouette is defined by its circular bezel and unique "T-strap" shoulder lugs at the 6 and 12 o'clock positions, creating a distinctive "suspended" look where the leather strap appears to barely touch the case. 

Set in 18k gold vermeil, this watch's 26mm case frames a luscious burgundy dial. This saturated backdrop provides a warm, elegant backdrop for the gold hour markers. The rich burgundy of the dial and matching strap offer a subtle pop of character, adding personality and charm while remaining neutral enough to complement any palette.

The "Paris" engraving on the back of the watch's case indicates that it was originally retailed through one of Cartier’s Paris boutiques.
