Vintage pendant featuring an old European cut diamond star-set in Florentine finished white gold, a piece likely created to repurpose an older diamond. Due to a combination of factors, this colorless diamond estimated at half a carat is a bit of a rare find, graded at E color and VS1 clarity. The diamond mines in operation at the time commonly produced warmer colored diamonds- generally the antique cuts we have had ranged from K-R in color. Many antique diamonds with better color were also re-cut to fit modern standards. As diamond cutting technology was less advanced back then, stones were less symmetrical, and not perfectly round, but this one has fairly symmetrical facets, allowing for fabulous sparkle while still having the charm of an antique cut with its open culet and higher table. Beautiful in both bright sunlight and lower light situations, which these antique stones are known for.
