Victorian engagement rings (1837 to 1901). Warm, patinated gold with old cut diamonds and gemstones. Ornate, romantic, and rich with symbolism and sentimentality: motifs like snakes, hearts, and crescents that carried meaning.

Art Nouveau rings (1890 to 1910). Flowing, nature-inspired lines and artistic materials from a short-lived movement. Genuine Nouveau rings are among the rarest antiques you can find.

Edwardian engagement rings (1901 to 1915). Delicate, airy platinum work: lace-like filigree, milgrain edges, and old European cut diamonds in all-white settings. Many consider this the technical peak of ring making.

Art Deco engagement rings (1910s to 1930s). Bold geometry, platinum and white gold, and striking contrast: diamonds against onyx, emeralds, and vivid colored stones. The most collected antique ring style there is.

Antique engagement rings are generally over 100 years old, while vintage engagement rings are at least 20 years old. Both vintage and antique offer unique craftsmanship and character; choose a design era that speaks to you! Victorian, Art Nouveau, Edwardian, and Art Deco rings are true antiques, while later Retro, mid-century, and 70's and 80's rings fall into vintage territory.

Yes. Every antique and vintage ring we sell was made in its era, with the metals and stones of its time: warm Victorian gold, openwork Edwardian platinum, hand-cut old mine and old European diamonds. We don't sell reproductions in our vintage collections. If you love vintage craftsmanship and details with a modern twist, our studio molimo creations are designed and made in our Los Angeles studio with ethically sourced materials.

Most rings can be easily resized within a range of two sizes up or two sizes down. Plain bands are usually straightforward. Generally, rings that have a plain section in the back can be easily resized. Details like enamel or stones set on the shoulders might not be able to be resized. All of our ring listings include whether the ring is resizable or not. If you have your eye on a specific ring, contact us with the ring size you need and we'll let you know if it's possible.

Old mine and old European cut diamonds are both ancestors of the modern round brilliant cut, cut by hand with the technology of the time. Old mine cut diamonds are the earlier cut, appearing in the 1800s, and have a higher crown and smaller table with a large open culet at the bottom. Old European cuts began to appear around the turn of the 20th century, with proportions more optimized for light return and better symmetry as technology improved. Many are! These rings have already survived their past lives and stories. We recommend avoiding contact with harsh chemicals for all jewelry, taking rings off when working with your hands, and regular cleaning to keep your jewelry sparkling. Ask us for care details on specific rings.
