Description
Antique Victorian toi et moi ("you and me") ring with two old mine cut diamonds set side by side in claw settings with a bypass band, each meant to represent a person in a relationship. The toi et moi concept was originally popularized in 1796 by Napoléon Bonaparte and Joséphine de Beauharnais, as their engagement ring was a similarly set diamond and sapphire, creating a romantic design that would be reimagined in different styles of each era, still popular over two hundred years later.
Approx. 1 ctw diamonds, SI - I clarity. 1.3 - 1.2 mm diameter round band.
Maker's mark for Marcus & Co, a New York-based jeweler that produced jewelry for Tiffany & Co.
Unmarked, tested 14k gold. In good condition.
