from 111 reviewsthis was my official december birthstone growing up. since then it’s been turquoise and now blue topaz. i guess that’s what happens when you’re born the end of the year- they keep running out! thanks for holding on to this one.
The Seko earrings are my new obsession! Molimo has been on the map for me since I met them in Santa Monica. I felt the quality from the first try on then and now with my earrings purchase I’m a super fan. Amazing buying experience, quality design, comfortable fit! I am recommending them to every gem friend I know!
The perfect hoop earring! It is beautifully crafted and just the right size for my ear. I love that it doesn't stretch out my piercing and is relatively lightweight. The post is the perfect length. It closes with a satisfying click. Excellent quality!
An amazing find from Molimo! The chain carries a luxurious weight and uniqueness. Package came carefully wrapped. Molimo answered all of my questions timely. Super happy about the experience!
The watch is beautiful and as described on your website. This is my second purchase from your store and I couldn’t be happier! I love my Molimo treasures! Thank you!
First of all, I was worried this would arrive during my holiday travel and customer service helped ensure my ring was made and delivered ahead of the estimated time. The ring itself is perfectly crafted, a good weight, and I especially love the knife edge detail. Every step of the process was above and beyond. Thank you so much, Molimo!!
Absolutely as gorgeous as the pictures. My questions were quickly answered and the rings were able to be resized with no issue! Beautiful packaging too.
I love my pendant.
Just as decribed and even better in person, thank you!
Love my new earrings
The ring 💍 is light weighted, but it is incredibly beautiful. It’s so sparkling ✨ and so shiny under the light, looking better than in the picture. This is the perfect gift for my wife. Many of her friends and collogues have given compliments when they see her ring. She highly recommend it to them. Thank you for your amazing design.
Beautiful Ring thank you!
The Cherub Pin is Vintage yet Classic .
Attention to detail adds to the pin's look .
This is a beautiful piece- unique stone combination. I love it.
This is the perfect little stack ring, looks great by itself, and very nice that it’s reclaimed and recycled metals and stones. I got the sterling silver version and wear it every day. Love!
For the love of antique engagement rings
Nothing symbolizes lasting love quite like an antique engagement ring. Each one is a one-of-a-kind piece, handcrafted in an era when detail was everything: intricate filigree, hand engraving, and old-cut diamonds with a sparkle modern stones can't imitate. Choosing a vintage engagement ring is also the most sustainable choice you can make, since nothing new is mined or made. Our collection is a curated walk through history, and every era brings its own flavor:
- The ornate romance of a Victorian engagement ring (1837 to 1901)
- The rare, flowing artistry of Art Nouveau (1890 to 1910)
- Delicate, airy designs of the short-lived Edwardian era (1901 to 1915)
- The bold geometry of Art Deco rings (1910s to 1930s)
What sets antique engagement rings apart
Handcrafted detail. Made one at a time, by hand, with engraving, filigree, and milgrain work that's rarely attempted in contemporary rings.
Old-cut diamonds. Old mine and old European cut diamonds were cut by hand to glow in candlelight. Their soft, fiery sparkle is completely different from modern machine-cut stones.
One of a kind. No two antique engagement rings are ever exactly alike. Your ring will be yours alone.
Inherently sustainable. Nothing is newly mined or manufactured. A vintage engagement ring is the original eco-friendly choice.
A story built in. Every antique ring has already been part of someone's life, and now it becomes part of yours.
Vintage engagement ring styles through the ages
Victorian engagement rings (1837 to 1901). Warm, patinated gold with old cut diamonds and gemstones. Ornate, romantic, and rich with symbolism and sentimentality: motifs like snakes, hearts, and crescents that carried meaning.
Art Nouveau rings (1890 to 1910). Flowing, nature-inspired lines and artistic materials from a short-lived movement. Genuine Nouveau rings are among the rarest antiques you can find.
Edwardian engagement rings (1901 to 1915). Delicate, airy platinum work: lace-like filigree, milgrain edges, and old European cut diamonds in all-white settings. Many consider this the technical peak of ring making.
Art Deco engagement rings (1910s to 1930s). Bold geometry, platinum and white gold, and striking contrast: diamonds against onyx, emeralds, and vivid colored stones. The most collected antique ring style there is.

What's the difference between vintage and antique engagement rings?
Antique engagement rings are generally over 100 years old, while vintage engagement rings are at least 20 years old. Both vintage and antique offer unique craftsmanship and character; choose a design era that speaks to you! Victorian, Art Nouveau, Edwardian, and Art Deco rings are true antiques, while later Retro, mid-century, and 70's and 80's rings fall into vintage territory.
Are the materials authentic to the period?
Yes. Every antique and vintage ring we sell was made in its era, with the metals and stones of its time: warm Victorian gold, openwork Edwardian platinum, hand-cut old mine and old European diamonds. We don't sell reproductions in our vintage collections. If you love vintage craftsmanship and details with a modern twist, our studio molimo creations are designed and made in our Los Angeles studio with ethically sourced materials.
Can antique engagement rings be resized?
Most rings can be easily resized within a range of two sizes up or two sizes down. Plain bands are usually straightforward. Generally, rings that have a plain section in the back can be easily resized. Details like enamel or stones set on the shoulders might not be able to be resized. All of our ring listings include whether the ring is resizable or not. If you have your eye on a specific ring, contact us with the ring size you need and we'll let you know if it's possible.
What are old mine and old European cut diamonds?
Old mine and old European cut diamonds are both ancestors of the modern round brilliant cut, cut by hand with the technology of the time. Old mine cut diamonds are the earlier cut, appearing in the 1800s, and have a higher crown and smaller table with a large open culet at the bottom. Old European cuts began to appear around the turn of the 20th century, with proportions more optimized for light return and better symmetry as technology improved. Both of these cuts sparkle with a unique charm that antique and vintage collectors love! Read more about these diamond cuts in our Introduction to antique cut stones.
Are vintage engagement rings durable enough for everyday wear?
Many are! These rings have already survived their past lives and stories. We recommend avoiding contact with harsh chemicals for all jewelry, taking rings off when working with your hands, and regular cleaning to keep your jewelry sparkling. Ask us for care details on specific rings.
Are antique engagement rings a sustainable choice?
Choosing an antique or vintage engagement ring means no new mining and no new manufacturing: the ring already exists, made to a standard that has lasted a hundred years. It's a meaningful way to reduce environmental impact while wearing something unique!
How do you verify age and authenticity?
Construction techniques, cut styles, hallmarks, and materials all date a ring. We examine every piece before it enters the collection and note the age, condition, and any old repairs or restoration in the listing. Curious how it's done? We write about dating and evaluating antiques in our vintage jewelry handbook.
Why buy your vintage engagement ring from molimo?
We handle every ring individually, with care. Our collection combines curated antique and vintage jewelry with pieces designed in our Los Angeles studio, and everything we source is examined for construction, materials, condition, and period before it's listed. We carefully detail the condition of what we find, and we're happy to answer questions about any ring before you buy. Start with our new arrivals or browse all rings.
